Welcome to Making Flippy Floppy—a blog (mostly) dedicated to indie and alternative music that’s lovingly maintained by two brothers whose love for these genres runs wide and deep. Neither of us puts on airs of being trained musicians or erudite music scholars. So don’t expect any condescending, holier-than-thou analysis from us. Rather, our perspective is that of passionate, dedicated fans who have definite ideas about what we like but who are always open to new sounds and styles.
We plan to cover the music world from a healthy variety of angles: review of new releases; re-examinations of vintage masterpieces and forgotten classics; recaps of concerts and other live performances; observations on trends and movements in the music scene; and opinions on the popular and the obscure, the raucous and the subdued, the artistic and the lowbrow. And occasionally, we may take detours into the cinematic and athletic realms, as both of us are also certified movie and sports junkies. In short, the plan is to keep things fresh and interesting.
So now that you’ve stumbled upon our site, we hope you find plenty here to keep you coming back for more. Though not exactly sure how this blog will evolve over time, we’re confident it’s going to be a fun ride. As the band who inspired the title of this blog once sang: “The future is certain/Give us time to work it out.”
